At start of play, January 12th 2010 sees me 30 years of age, with a job history of website and programming work in html, css, perl, php, mysql, and a bit of c++. Seems perfect to build myself some regular online income by working for myself.
My personal life? I’m recently married with an 8 week old daughter. Living in a rented apartment, got some fairly standard credit card and loan debts, and am self employed in a time of recession, so don’t have much work on! Time to get down to it and make myself the promised fortune from affiliate marketing!
I first started to take an interest in it in 2006, and set up a few small sites, but haven’t done anything on any of them for a couple of years, so income is really about enough to cover server and domain costs at the moment. My biggest site – http://www.gym-membership.co.uk i’ve just started to do some work on again (i set it up originally to take advantage of the pruhealth offer of 6 months free gym membership when you take out their private medical insurance, however their offer gradually got worse and worse, to a point where i made nothing from them for a few months in a row). 2 years ago i was making 1500 GBP a month from it, but now i need to make money from other gym offers and affiliate schemes. I started working on it again mid december, it still ranks fairly well on google, so we’ll see at the end of January what the traditional bumper month will have made me to kick off this project! My other sites provide negligible income at the moment, so i need to redevelop the old ones, and come up with some new ones to make this project work!
